About Department
Our Department is one of the first basic departments of the University. It was founded in 1955 by the Order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR at the Radio Engineering Faculty. Currently, the department trains five groups of students: bachelor’s degree students with the specialties 12.03.01 «Instrument Engineering», 12.03.04 «Biotechnical Systems and Technologies», 15.03.06 «Mechatronics and Robotics», 27.03.01 «Standardization and Metrology», 27.03.02 «Quality Management»; master’s degree students with the specialties 12.04.01, 12.04.04, 15.03.06, 27.04.01, and postgraduate students with specialty 12.06.01 «Photonics, Instrument Engineering, Optical and Biotechnical Systems and Technologies» majoring in «Information-measuring and Control Systems» and «Equipment, Systems and Medical Devices»; 27.06.01 «Management in Technical Systems» majoring in «Information-measuring and Control Systems».
Specialists in the field of «Instrument Engineering» are prepared for professional activities in the design, production and operation of technical means and systems for receiving and processing measurement information based on the latest information technologies, achievements of mathematics and electronics, ensuring scientific and technological progress. The scope of their activities includes electronic measuring instruments and device and the most complex measuring and computing systems used in rocketry, nuclear power, aircraft and shipbuilding, medicine, biology, household equipment.
The graduates of the Department with specialty «Biotechnical systems and technologies» are qualified engineers with knowledge in the field of technology, biology, physiology and medicine. They are capable of both design and maintenance of modern biomedical equipment in treatment and diagnostic centers, at enterprises and firms engaged in the development of biomedical equipment.
Currently, the department employs 5 professors, 17 associate professors, 10 senior teachers, 16 engineers and 9 graduate students who successfully carry out both pedagogical and scientific and technical activities.
The results of scientific activity of our Department are widely presented in numerous scientific publications in periodicals, conference proceedings, monographs, textbooks, in invention patents. In the past five years, more than 130 scientific papers have been published, 18 invention patents have been received, more than 12 All-Russian scientific and technical conferences and seminars have been held.
The systems of complex magnetotherapy of the third generation "Multimag MK-03" and "Multimag-M" have been developed and put into serial production. Four models of devices for environmental monitoring of electromagnetic pollution INP01-INP03, INP04.3, a geomagnetic storm compensation system, intelligent pressure sensors and an autonomous robot car have been developed.
In the learning process, multimedia technologies are widely used. Classes with students are held in educational laboratories equipped with modern computers, measuring equipment and various stands and models.
In our Department academic personnel and students have ample opportunities for scientific work on various topics, such as chrono-magnetic therapy, computer automation of metrological tests, intelligent sensors for measuring information, robots and robotic systems. On the basis of the Department, the research and educational center authorized technological center of National Instruments (REC-ATC NI) was created as a structural subdivision of the RSREU.
The employees and students of our Department organized the work of the laboratory of ROBOTICS, which transformed into the design bureau (KB) "AvRoRa" (Autonomous Robots of the Radio University).
The Department has extensive contacts in the field of scientific and methodological activities with the leading organizations and universities of the Russian Federation and Belarus: Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University «LETI», Forest Engineering University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Research Institute of Aviation and Space Medicine, Rostov State University, A. B. Kogan Research Institute for Neurocybernetics of Southern Federal University, etc.
