By order of the Rector of RSREU No. 194 of July 3, 2017, Department of History and Philosophy and Department of Political Science and Social Sciences were merged. The new department is called Department of History, Philosophy and Legal Science.

Department employs 18 teachers, including:

• Doctors of sciences - 4;
• Candidates of sciences - 22.

Our Department conducts multifaceted work, providing basic courses in accordance with the state educational standard in disciplines (History, Philosophy, Logic, Pedagogy and Psychology, National history, Culturology, History of public administration in Russia, History of economic doctrines, Constitutional law, Administrative law, Criminal law, Labor Law, Criminalistics) for bachelor’s degree and specialist’s degree student. Moreover, we offer lectures in “History and Philosophy of Science”, “Modern Philosophy and Methodology of Science” for postgraduate students and master’s degree students.

The main scientific area of the Department is the study of the problems of national history, culture and philosophy. Over the past 5 years, the staff of the department has published 8 monographs, more than 200 articles and 5 textbooks for students. Associate Professor K.S. Arutyunyan published the monograph “Changes in Social Consciousness in Conditions of Social Crisis”.

The teachers of the Department were laureates and diploma winners of the competition of the President of the Russian Federation among young scientists and candidates of science, I.P. Pavlov award for young scientists. The department takes an active part in interregional, all-Russian and international scientific conferences. The teachers of the department take part in the work of the annual interdisciplinary symposium “Social theory and work of social and humanitarian education in the post-Soviet space”, with the participation of the editorial board of the journal “Personality, Culture, Society”.

Our Department is a center for the study of problems of history, methodology of regional culture, methods of teaching issues of regional culture in universities, secondary specialized and educational institutions. There are several educational centers in the Department: Center for Economic History of Prioksky District and REC “History”. In its activity, the Department devotes a great deal of attention to educational and scientific work with students. Together with the Museum of History of RSREU, we regularly hold events: quizzes, meetings with interesting people, war and labor veterans, exhibitions dedicated to the history and culture of Russia.
