Our Department trains specialists with the specialty 11.05.01 «Radio-electronic systems and complexes» of the OPOP (major professional academic program) «Radio-electronic systems of information transmission», as well as bachelors and masters with the specialty 11.03.02 and 11.04.02 «Infocommunication technologies and communication systems» according to the OPOP (major professional academic program) «Networks, telecommunication systems and devices».
Graduates of the specialty «Radio electronic systems and complexes» have deep radio engineering training and specialization in the field of radio systems of information transmission, and bachelors and masters in the educational program «Networks, systems and devices of telecommunications» have good training in the field of telecommunications. All this allows them to work in the field of maintenance of existing and development of advanced communication and information transmission systems.
The Department trains foreign students. There is a postgraduate study in the Department.
The department has 7 educational laboratories: Communication networks and switching systems, Multichannel telecommunication systems; Digital signal processing; Optical transmission systems; Satellite and radio relay transmission systems; Antennas and microwave devices and others.
Department’s teachers and academic fellows take part in research and development activities aimed at building interference-resistant radio lines for transmitting information, synthesizing innovative types of radio signals, developing highly efficient algorithms for noise-immune coding, designing local radio navigation systems, increasing the efficiency of video and speech signal processing algorithms. We actively cooperate with leading enterprises of the radio-electronic industry: OAO (OJSC) «Russian Space Systems» (Moscow), PAO (PJSC) «MAK «Vympel» (Moscow), Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau» («Konstruktorskoye byuro mashynostroyeniya») (Kolomna), Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Russian Federal Nuclear Center» (Sarov), AO (JSC) «Izhevsk Radio Plant» and others.
The student design bureau (SKB) was organized in our Department. On its basis, future engineers, bachelor and master’s degree students have the opportunity to take part in scientific work. Students gain hands-on experience in programming high-capacity digital signal processors "Analog Devices" and "Texas Instruments", programmable logic integrated circuits "Xilinx", digital signal synthesizers and other electronic components that are the basis of advanced radio-electronic information transmission systems. The Department has organized a Scientific, Educational and Methodological Center "Rohde and Schwartz", as well as a Scientific and Educational Center for information and telecommunication systems (SEC Intelsis). In the process of carrying out experimental work on the basis of SKB, students acquire the skills of using modern digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and generators manufactured by the world’s leading manufacturers of measuring equipment – «Rohde & Schwarz» (Germany), as well as «GW INSTEK», «AKTAKOM», etc.
Students who have proven themselves well after defending their thesis project are given the opportunity to become postgraduate students, as well as bachelor’s degree students, after defending their final qualifying work, become future master’s degree students.
